Cervantes Windsurf Challenge

In the ever expansive blue shallow and turquoise bay that sits between Thirsty point and Cervantes island lies a windsurfers paradise. With onshore winds for safety, perfect water conditions to go fast and explore the area with fellow windsurfers. The point will offer flat water for Freestyle whilst the huge playground will offer an adaptable slalom course accompanied by consistent and strong sea breeze that blesses this area of the coast more than others coast each summer.

This event is about fun, and creating a back to back event week of action week between Cervantes (7-8^th) and Lancelin Ocean Classic (12-15^th).  This will increase the number of interstate and overseas competitors to the Cervantes event. Also by creating an event a week before the LOC, this will actually increase the number of competitors that are willing to travel with more planned events in close proximity spatially and by time.

The event will comprise of the following categories:

Slalom:

• Open
• Freeride
• Women

Freestyle:

• Men
• Women

Kids race (100m to mark and back)

• Kids learning and under 15 years of age who can make a 100m run to mark and turn around gybe/tack.

Relay Racing:

• A fun race will be run with a Le mon start with all competitors taking off with beach start running to the water with their equipment
• Results will be divided up as even as possible to make equal relay teams for an afternoon of fun racing and practicing le mon starts at each change of competitor in the team
• Mixed teams pros and amateur
